I'm naturally suspicious of anything that goes viral. 

So when the CODE 118 wallet showed up in my feed for the hundredth time, I bought one purely to find out if it was any good. 

Three months later, it's the only wallet I carry.

If you haven't seen this smart wallet online yet, just spend a few more minutes scrolling on your social media feed, and you eventually will.

CODE 118 is a slim, RFID-blocking, MagSafe compatible automatic wallet that ejects your cards instantly with a single trigger pull. It's trackable worldwide with your phone, fully modular, and is endlessly customizable.

When you buy something online, what you see isn't always what you get — and I'll admit, I was skeptical about ordering something I first saw in an Instagram ad.

Then the package showed up (4 days, cheapest shipping option) and the skepticism faded away.

The wallet is built from 3K-twill carbon fiber and forged 6061-T6 aerospace-grade aluminum. The second I felt the smooth, CNC machined finish in my hand, I knew I was holding something premium.

The base wallet fits up to 7 cards in the automatic, RFID protected chamber and a few more can also be stored under the strap. The strap also doubles as a place to carry cash with silicone on the inside to ensure a strong grip. 

Pull the trigger and your cards fan out in a clean, staggered cascade — one-handed, smooth, and weirdly satisfying every time.

After more digging, I managed to get one of the founders on email and asked the obvious question: why start your own brand?

His answer: "Many of the EDC and wallet companies I used to admire most were priced way out of my reach. I wanted to create a brand that could provide the same materials and quality the big guys were known for — minus the big-name markup."

A few days of back-and-forth later, I understood the strategy.

Most companies pour money into big-name influencers (who can charge tens of thousands of dollars for a single post) and into expensive, gimmicky packaging which can run $5-10 per unit JUST for the packaging alone. All of that gets quietly baked into the price you pay.

CODE 118 decided to do it differently. They don't lean on influencer marketing, and they don't use flashy packaging to "fake" a premium experience (though their minimalist packaging is honestly really nice). Instead, they put nearly all their time, money, and resources into the product itself.

That's how they sell genuinely high-end, innovative gear at a fraction of what the competition charges.

We've all been burned by a "lifetime warranty" before.

You go to actually use it, and suddenly there's a wall of fine print details and it only covers "manufacturer defects."

I'm not usually one to speak so highly of a product, but when everything lines up perfectly like this — quality, usability, practicality, and value for the money — I always do my best to get the word out.


Now, there is one small criticism I have with this company.

Since CODE 118 produces their products in small batches to ensure quality control, they seem to sell out of stock frequently.


All in all, they may not have the fanciest packaging, the biggest advertising budget, or the hottest influencers hyping them up...

But what they do have are innovative, useful, quality products — without a ridiculous price point or any of the B.S.!
